My Italian Grand Tour – Genoa

Well here I am in my last stop in Italy – Genoa; the birthplace of Christopher Columbus and the home of focaccia bread.

I arrived here just as the rains started in western Europe, the same rains that brought floods to France and Germany.  So, I used my 2 nights to rest, recuperate and when the sun appeared occasionally, enjoy the wonderful architecture and buildings of this once powerful maritime city. On Monday the Museums were closed (of course they are…) so wandering the streets was a great alternative. Here is a little taste of the beautiful street scapes and many lane ways the city is renowned for.  Fortunately, I stayed in a beautiful Hotel, which I would recommend to any visitor – Grand Hotel Savoia, and made it a very pleasant rest stop.

Next instalment… arrivederci to Italy, and ya sas to Greece.
